I-Ching Acupuncture “易医”

What is I-Ching “易经”?

"I-Ching" or "Yi-Jing" is an ancient text that contains the crux of Chinese philosophy.  It is thought to have been conceived by the legendary Sage Fuxi, through his observations of the interactions of nature.  Fuxi is viewed as the 'father' of Chinese civilisation, and is thought to have lived about 3300BC.

The contents of the I-Ching centres around the YinYang, 8 Trigrams and 64 Hexagrams - these seemingly simplistic ideas have been the subject of study, debate and admiration by scholars, philosophers, scientists, mathematicians and masters from all walks of lives, all across the world. Famous Western masters of their fields who had studied the I-Ching include Liebniz, Carl Jung, Philip K.Dick, John Cage.

The fundamental principles of the I-Ching are  :

- Yin & Yang are the two possible extremities all things.

- There are 8 basic variations of Yin and Yang; as such all phenomena can be described by one of these variations, symbolised by the 8      Trigrams

- The interactions of the 8 basic variations of phenomena with eachother, results in 64 possible variations/outcomes, as represented by 64 hexagrams

How does I-Ching apply to Chinese Medicine?

The principles of all facets of Chinese Medicine has its roots in I-Ching.  Therefore, I-Ching therapy is a powerful, direct approach to diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions.

For many complex cases which conventional methods have not yielded results, I-Ching philosophy can often be used to understand the essence of the problem, and applied in a corresponding treatment through Acupuncture.
